Beechwood and Lexington Catholic are the biggest favorites to win state football titles this weekend, according to Dave Cantrall’s power ratings. Beechwood, a nine-time state champ, takes on Lexington Christian
Academy in Friday’s Class A finals at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium in Louisville. Lexington Catholic, which won a state crown in 2005, plays upstart Lone Oak in Saturday’s 4A finals. Cantrall’s ratings have the 5A and 6A matchups as too close to call. In 5A, Bowling Green takes on 16-time state champ Highlands on Friday night. In 6A, 17-time state champ Trinity takes on arch-rival and 11-time state champ St. Xavier on Saturday night.
Participating schools have a limited number of advance $8 general admission tickets. General admission at the gate will be $10. All-session passes (good for both days) cost $30. This weekend’s lineup:
