FIELDS NOTES

Mike Fields on Kentucky high school sports

About Fields Notes

I’ve been a sportswriter long enough (33 years) to remember when the clacking of typewriter keys was the sound of doing business.

Now we get the job done with laptops, and our stories not only appear in newspapers but also on the Internet.

I surrender.

To prove it, I’m going to blog, a brave venture for a guy who considers himself a bit techno-phobic. I’m not sure exactly how this thing will evolve, but we’ll find out together.

I’ll try to make it informative on matters of high school sports — football, basketball and baseball will be the main topics, but we’ll touch on everything — and I’ll throw in an occasional opinion. I just hope cyberworld doesn’t spin off its axis as a result.

I welcome your feedback.

I just wanted to let you know that your blog does a great job of filling in the gaps from your newspaper article. I have read your column for years and you do a great job reporting on high school sports in Kentucky.
Keep up the good work and I will continue to read it often.
